WANTED: DC-3 PHOTOS 1947

The New England Air Museum seeks photographs

The year 2023 represents the 76th year since the first scheduled passenger airliner landed at Bradley International Airport. That flight was a DC-3, Eastern Airlines flight 624 from New York. Eastern CEO, Eddy Rickenbacker, was on board and spent two days in Hartford promoting the new service. The New England Air Museum restored its DC-3 in Eastern Airlines colors to commemorate the occasion. The DC-3 on display was part of the Eastern Airlines fleet in 1947.

The museum is seeking any photographs of that first arrival at Bradley. Photos that would help identify the specific aircraft would be of particular interest. The aircraft identifying numbers were located on the tail. See the attached photo of the museum’s DC-3 tail. Any photographs donated to the museum could be used in the exhibit with credit to the donor.

Anyone with photos or information can contact the Museum at 860 623-3305, email at staff@neam.org, or Tom Palshaw at tpalshaw@gmail.com
