Our day begins with a visit to Old Ironsides, the U.S.S. Constitution, the oldest commissioned naval warship still afloat. Launched in 1797, the vessel is on display at the Charlestown Navy Yard, part of Boston National Historical Park. After a tour of the historic vessel and yard, we’ll visit the U.S.S. Constitution Museum for self-guided exploration and a boxed lunch. We’ll then travel to nearby Chestnut Hill for a tour of the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum, a historic pumping station home to an 1894 steam-powered water pump recognized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a national engineering historic landmark. We will return to the New England Air Museum at approximately 6:00pm.
