Museum Activities

The New England Air Museum offers a variety of activities and drop-in programs for visitors of all ages. All activities are included with general admission and are subject to change.


Featured Activities

Build and Fly to Go! Station

When: Daily from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Military Hangar

Enjoy take home versions of our popular Hands-on “Build and Fly Challenges” as well as social distanced games.

Flight Science Demonstrations

When: Daily from 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Where: Meet at Build and Fly to Go! Station in the Military Hangar

Discover the science of flight with social distanced demonstrations led by the Public Programs Team. This activity is best for visitors ages 8 and older.

Investigation Station

When: Daily from 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Where: Meet at Build and Fly to Go! Station in the Military Hangar

Investigate the history of our historic aircraft with members of the Public Programs Team. This activity is includes social distancing and is best for visitors ages 8 and older.

Aircraft Quest Scavenger Hunts

Explore the museum using our Aircraft Scavenger Hunts! Visitors who stop by the Admissions Desk on their way out to share something they learned will receive a prize from our Wings 'n Things Gift Shop.

KidsPort

Where:   In the connector between the Civil and B-29 Hangars

Enjoy a fun photo op with family in our children’s exhibit. We hope to bring back our hands-on activity stations during Phase Three of our reopening.

Computerized Flight Simulators

These are temporarily closed during our Phase Two reopening

Where: Military Hangar

"Fly" a Cessna 172 from airports throughout the world using computerized flight simulators.

Open Aircraft

Peek inside the cockpits of select aircraft including the Douglas A-26C 'Invader,' Bell UH-1B 'Huey,' Kaman SH-2F 'Seaprite,' and more! (Aircraft offered for viewing subject to change.)


Special Events & Workshops

During school vacation weeks we also offer a variety of special events, programs and workshops, such as, LEGO contests, aircraft nose art designs, straw rockets, and more. Check the website for more information on vacation week activities.
