Family Activities

The New England Air Museum offers a variety of hands-on activities and drop-in programs for visitors of all ages. All activities are included with general admission and are subject to change.


Featured Activities

Soarin' Story Time

When: Weekends 10:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Where: Meet in the Museum Lobby

Join the NEAM Public Programs Team for an aerospace themed story under the wing of an airplane.

Build & Fly Challenge

When: Weekends 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Military or Civil Aviation Hangar

Hands-on "build & fly" activities that will spark the imagination and test your engineering skills. Activities change weekly.

Flight Science Demonstrations

When: Weekends 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Meet in the Museum Lobby

Discover the science of flight with hands-on demonstrations led by the Public Programs team.

Family Fun Tours

When: Weekends 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Where: Meet in the Museum Lobby

Join our Public Programs team for a hands-on tour designed for families with children ages 3 and up. Tours limited to 15 people on a first come, first served basis.


Daily Activites

Aircraft Quest Scavenger Hunts

When: Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Aviators, ages 3 and older, are invited to explore our Museum using an Aircraft Quest Scavenger Hunt. Forms are available at the Admissions Desk and you can return your form to the Admissions Desk to earn a prize from our Wings N' Things gift shop.

KidsPort

When: Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where:   In the connector between the Civil and B-29 Hangars

Build and fly paper planes, dress-up as a pilot, build with LEGO bricks, and more in our interactive KidsPort area.

Computerized Flight Simulators

When: Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Military Hangar

"Fly" a Cessna 172 from airports throughout the world using computerized flight simulators.

Grumman E-1B Tracer Cockpit

When: Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: Military Hangar

Children ages three & up can sit in an exact replica of a U.S. Navy reconnaissance aircraft.


Special Events & Workshops

During school vacation weeks we also offer a variety of special events, programs and workshops, such as, LEGO contests, aircraft nose art designs, straw rockets, and more. Check the website for more information on vacation week activities.
