Scout Programs

The New England Air Museum offers an array of exciting programs for Scouts including overnights, day workshops, and group visits.

Scout Overnights

Scout Overnights feature open cockpit experiences in real aircraft, opportunities to meet aerospace engineers and pilots, hands-on activities, flight simulators, a film screening, and so much more! The $65 per person fee includes a buffet dinner, late-night snack, hot breakfast, and a New England Air Museum Overnight patch for all participants. Participants also receive a full day’s admission to the museum the day their Overnight ends, as well as half-price admission for immediate family members who join them that day.

Scout Overnights can accommodate up to 165 participants, and reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis with a $35 per person non-refundable deposit required to reserve a spot. Registration closes 30 days prior to the Overnight, or when the Overnight sells out, whichever occurs first. These popular events often sell out months in advance, so it's best to reserve early!

Aviation Merit Badge Workshops

Aviation Merit Badge Workshops are offered in partnership with the Connecticut Rivers Council and provide Scouts BSA with the opportunity to fulfill all Aviation Merit Badge requirements in a single day. Scouts must test for each badge requirement, and a partial will be given to scouts who do not pass all requirements. Scouts who receive partials may re-test at the museum or over the phone at a later date for no additional fee.

Scouts must be at least 12 years old at the time of the workshop, have read the Aviation Merit Badge handbook prior to attending the workshop, and be accompanied by an adult chaperone at all times during the workshop. Workshops run from 10:15am-4:00pm, and workshop participants are welcome to explore the museum until closing at 5:00pm. We recommend participants bring a brown bag lunch as our museum does not have onsite food service.

Aviation Merit Badge Workshop fees are $40 per scout, $15 per adult. Museum memberships, coupons, and discount passes do not apply to workshop fees. Each workshop is limited to 10 scouts, and advanced registration is required on a first come, first served basis.
