Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing:

My heart is still saddened for the many friends and buddies we lost in this campaign. I know I was one of the "lucky" ones. For all of the men in the 58th wing from "latrine jockeys" to General LeMay, I have never known a better group of people. When we landed in Sacramento, CA from Tinian Island, I told someone I would not take a million dollars for my service experience, nor would I give 10 cents for another just like it. Just joking, of course. So long for now, and may we meet in "the Wild Blue Yonder". Sincerely, Homer L. Burd.

Mr. Burd passed away April 2nd 2012 and is buried at the Claybar Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Orange, TX
