Ranger L-440-1

The Ranger Aircraft Engine Division of the Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation of Farmingdale, NY produced the L-440 primarily for Fairchild's family of trainer aircraft, including the PT-19, in the mid-1930's.

Along with the PT-19 variants of the L-440 also powered aircraft including:

  • Fairchild PT-26
  • Falconar SAL Mustang
  • Grumman G-44 Widgeon
  • St. Louis PT-LM-4

The engine is on display in the Civilian Hangar near the Great Lakes Sportster Replica.
