With serial number 17, this is believed to be the oldest surviving Wright Brothers aero engine in running condition. After its restoration was completed, it was run on December 17, 2003 on the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers first airplane flight.

This engine is located at the end of the Military to Civilian hangar corridor outside of the door to the library.
